POV is a shared roll of film for one event. This page describes exactly what the app stores, why, and how to remove it. It is written against what the app actually does — if something here does not match the app, treat that as a bug and tell us.
What we store
- A device identifier. When you first open POV it asks your device for its own identifier and exchanges it for a token. That is your account. We do not ask for an email address or a password, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
- A display name, if you set one. It is shown to the other people on a roll so they know who shot which frame. We never invent one for you.
- The photos you take in POV, and who took them. Each frame records which roll it belongs to, who shot it, when, and whether the flash fired.
- The rolls you host or join, their names, invite codes and reveal times.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no ad networks and no sale of anything to anyone.
- No analytics that follow you between apps or across the web.
- No access to the rest of your photo library. POV can add a saved frame to it and cannot read it.
- No location, unless a future version asks you plainly and you agree.
Who can see your frames
Only the people on the same roll, and only after that roll has developed. Before then the photos are not sent to any device — the server refuses to release them, including to you. That is the product, not a setting.
Frames are served over expiring signed links. Anyone you forward such a link to can see that one photo until the link lapses, so treat it as you would the photo itself.
Deleting everything
You → Delete my account, in the app. It removes your account, your frames — the image files, not only the database rows — your reactions and the rolls you hosted. It cannot be undone, and we keep no copy. Frames other people shot on a roll you were merely a guest on stay with them.
Where it lives
On servers we run in Germany, and in Cloudflare object storage. Data is transmitted over HTTPS.
Children
POV is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that affects what we store or who can see it, the app will say so rather than relying on you re-reading this.
